For my social activism project, I went and viewed a handful of films at the 24 th annual Tampa Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. Identifying how this film festival relates to gender oppression was a lovely way to bring the course full circle, as we learned the basis of gender oppression within the first week. My way of participating in the action portion of this film festival was by bringing my father with me the last night of the film festival. Although he is accepting of my gender and sexual orientation, taking him and immersing him within my community and letting him witness support and love in action was the overall goal for me. Seeing him come home and talk to my mom about what he saw and how he felt and how real it all was, was incredible.
